1. What are the ten most important things in your main character’s life? Write them down in order of importance.
2. What are the ten most important things in the antagonist’s life? Write them down in order of importance. (If the bad guy in your story is the government, like in Ally Condie’s book MATCHED, there are important goals and needs to be accomplished by society.)
3. Have any of those ‘things’ been used in novels before?
How is your use of these ‘things’ different?
How can you make them more fresh?
What if you switched the important stuff around so that the protagonist and the antagonist exchanged items?
What happens to your story now?
