Late Night Blog Tour

1. What are you working on right now?
This is a big question. I am sort of between books. I’m working on my middle grade series with my writing partner Cheri Pray Earl. That means we are always writing or editing. I’m doing some clean up on a book that comes out in the spring called SIGNED, SKYE HARPER. And I’ve started a new funny YA novel about a girl who can see ghosts. I’m kind of taking my time with that novel. Just enjoying it. There are also a few things that I’m getting ready to do. A YA novel for a potential publisher about sexual abuse, and two MG novels for them, too.
2. Why do you write what you do?
I write whatever book moves me at the time. Usually I have an emotional connection to the topic, but not always. SKYE was sort of a way for me to remember my very favorite dog ever in the world who was killed last year. And I was just ready for something light. So there you have it.
3. How does your writing process work?
I sit down and I think.
Then I start to write.
Then I complain.
I write some more.
I complain some more
Then a lot more.
And then even more.
I challenge myself to write at least a chapter a day when I am on a new project. That’s about 1,200 words for me. I think the way I get through a book is all the complaining I do. If you don’t believe me, ask my best friends and my girls.
Look for these authors next week.
