Kyra Leigh, Queen Bee

Hey Guys,

It’s Wednesday again!

I figured since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I would recommend some great romance *novels and movies.
These are flicks and books that maybe aren’t on all the “Best Romances of All Time” Lists. But they are different.
Try something new. {Or old, since some of these are oldies}

Books

How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff.

I didn’t see the movie. So I have no idea if it did the book justice or not.  I will say this is a strange, but really great book. There’s some romance, as well as some other funky interesting stuff.
It’s an older book, and still a great read.

Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison.

This series is a CLASSIC. I read them when I was  young, and then re-read them when I was a little older.
Funny. As. Heck.
It’s exactly how a romance for a 13-year-old should be. {Awkward, silly, funny, and light}

The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
Beautiful written, great romance, with sad but real undertones. I loved this book. It’s a few years old {and I heard it was going to be made into a movie?} but still one of my favorites.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin
Need I say more? Romance at it’s classiest.

Movies.

The Proposal
Funny, awkward, and SEXY. Can we just say Ryan Reynolds?!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
This movie is different, to say the least.  It’s amazing. Sad, but also great.

The Princess Bride {book and movie}
Total classic. If you haven’t seen {or read} this, I highly recommend it.

Django Unchained
Despite all the violence, this IS a romance. And one of my favorites! If you’ve not seen this movie, you’re missing out.

Silver Linings Playbook
Romance at it’s weirdest. And I  got a little misty eyed.

Enjoy!

  1. You should check out Catch and Release. It’s not your typical romance, but it has Timothy Olyphant and one amazing kiss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NuyXTNQsJY
